Your Career in Physical or Occupational Therapy

Therapists work in patient care settings including:

  • Acute Care
  • Acute Rehabilitation
  • Skilled Nursing Facilities
  • Outpatient Services

  • Physical and Occupational Therapists with the Sisters of St. Francis Health Services, Inc. (SSFHS) have rewarding opportunities to work in a patient centered atmosphere in a variety of settings. These settings include acute care, acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities and outpatient services. Rotations within these areas are often available to provide new and experienced therapists opportunities to explore and develop their patient care skills. A career in Physical or Occupational Therapy with SSFHS offers an opportunity for personal commitment and service to others, as well as a focus on compassionate care, our Franciscan values and a commitment to the ongoing ministry of healing.

Our Physical and Occupational Therapy Departments enjoy consistent and open communication with other members of the healthcare team including physicians, nurses and social services professionals. Our therapists actively seek patient and family involvement in the therapy process. Physical and Occupational Therapists are often the healthcare professionals who spend the most time with the patients developing therapeutic relationships and earning the patients' trust. These relationships provide both personal and professional rewards and keeps job satisfaction high.

SSFHS supports its therapists with a comprehensive continuing education program, providing both financial resources and the necessary time and support. Therapists are encouraged to attend seminars during the year and share the information and skills with their peers. Regularly scheduled educational inservices give our therapists the opportunity to be both student and teacher. By sharing information and treatment techniques, we are able to offer our patients uninterrupted care if their primary therapist is unavailable.

Physical and Occupational Therapy careers flourish in an environment of excellence, and the facilities within the SSFHS healthcare system are committed to continued excellence in the healthcare ministry. If your personal philosophy fits with our view of healthcare and you would like further information on how you, as a professional Physical or Occupational Therapist, can become a part of the Sisters of St. Francis Health Services team, please contact us.
